Ticks and impala

A red-billed oxpecker is sitting on the head, neck and later over the eye of one of the impala rams,  but he pays it no attention. Red-billed oxpeckers eat thousands of ticks from livestock and wildlife every year as a form of biological control. It is therefore imperative that all acaricides that are being used are not toxic to these birds.
