Leopard in a tree

23 January 2014

From 08:52:02 to 08:55:52 the video shows the excellent camouflage of a leopard in the leafless branches of a tree near the waterhole in the camp. The leopard is lying on its belly and chest in the fork of a still leafless tree as it is early in the spring. Three legs and the tail dangle down but the right forefoot is being used to support the leopard against the branch. Leopards will lie up in trees to get away from biting insects or to make use of cool breezes. The head of this leopard is an exceptionally dark orange in colour.
