Types of lizards

19 July 2016

QUESTION:

What types of lizards are in this photo?

ANSWER:

On the left in the photo sitting on the rock sheet at Leopard´s Sleeping Place is a small, striated lizard with a larger lizard, probably a rough-scaled plated lizard Gerrhosaurus major with its characteristic and prominent ear openings behind the jaws and its relatively large eyes, sitting on the rock sheet to the right in the photo. The ridge on the lower part of its side is also characteristic. See the lizard up close.
