QUESTION:

What type of hawk is this?

ANSWER:

This is a Eurasian hobby. It has yellow legs as in an adult but the chest plumage still appears to be greyish and it is still moulting. Eurasian hobbies hunt at dusk and dawn and rest by day by sitting in a tall, leafy tree. It is a migratory bird that is seen rarely and comes to southern Africa from May to Ocober by folllowing rain fronts south. It returns to Euarasia in May and June to breed.
